# Philosophy

With Nix `home-manager`, installed software and configurations stay tied to the user environment.
There is substantial overlap between how software is managed on NixOS, macOS, and other Linux distributions.
`home-manager` is a portable compromise that creates isolated user environments with the daily tools needed.
